POSITION: Director of Adult Education
STATUS: Full-time
LOCATION: New York City (remote and in-person)
START DATE: July 2022

Literacy Partners strengthens families through a two-generation approach to education. With our free classes, community-based workshops, and educational media, low-income parents develop the literacy and language skills they need to succeed in today’s world. Our research-based curriculum also incorporates child development and parenting support to help parents boost their children’s early reading, school readiness, and social-emotional growth. The English for Parents program is recognized nationally as an innovative adult education program by World Education Edtech.

The Position

We are looking for an exceptional individual who believes in our mission and is able to work with a dynamic and talented team to develop and implement a new in-person adult education program for English Language Learners (ESOL) and low-literacy (ABE) students, funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Reporting to the Chief Program Officer (CPO), this position will work closely with the CPO and program staff to develop and implement an in-person program where parents of young children come to transform their lives and create a brighter future for their children through the power of literacy. Our existing two-generation programs blend foundational literacy with child development insights and health literacy skills in a supportive, inclusive environment that creates extraordinary results.

Our new WIOA ABE and ESOL programs will share this vision and trauma-informed strategy for teaching and learning while also achieving the NYSED benchmarks. The Director of Adult Education will join our diverse, social justice oriented team of 28 staff and more than 100 interns and volunteers.
