Jack discovered his passion for reading as an adult. His stories from his high school days centered around playing hooky to go to the movies or sneaking into baseball games. But, as an adult, he became a student of the world through reading. He was a voracious reader – he didn’t own a tv because he preferred reading as a form of entertainment. He shared his joy of reading with everyone he knew, constantly recommending books to people he encountered. He read newspapers he didn’t agree with politically because he was interested in “learning what the other side had to say.”

When they were young, Jack spent countless hours reading to his daughters, Jennifer and Allison, and he taught them how to read before they entered school. The memories of sitting on the couch, curled up next to their father while they read together are forever treasured by his daughters and they hope that other parents can give similar memories to their children.
