2017 TD Five Boro Bike Tour: We Love Our Team!

On Sunday, May 7, our 11-person Bike for Books team biked 40 miles (!) throughout all five boroughs of New York City as part of the 2017 TD Five Boro Bike Tour. Braving the windy and chilly weather, they cycled along the FDR and the BQE, through Central Park, and over the Verrazano Bridge. Throughout their ride, they saw many impressive sights (see photos) and, in the course of completing the ride, raised over $10,000 to support Literacy Partners!  Their ride ended at the Finish Festival in Staten Island, where they received their medals.

Our superstar team raised over $10,000 to support our work to provide free literacy and language classes to low income parents in all five boroughs, along with a home library of children’s books for the families of our students.

The Board and staff of Literacy Partners, along with all of our families and the communities we serve, are so grateful for our brave bike team. We look forward to mounting an even larger team next year!  Stay tuned for how to sign up. In the meantime, see more photos here and you can read more about our riders and why they chose to bike for books here.
