What is a donor-advised fund?
A donor-advised fund is a charitable giving account. Think of it like a savings account for your generosity: you contribute to it, receive an immediate tax benefit, and then recommend grants to the nonprofits — like Literacy Partners — making the greatest impact in your community, on your own timeline.
What your DAF grant makes possible
Every grant to Literacy Partners helps parents and caregivers strengthen their literacy and English language skills, support their children’s education, and build brighter futures for their families. Specifically, your DAF grant helps provide:
High-quality literacy and English instruction for adults, parents, and caregivers
Family learning programs that strengthen children’s early literacy
Free books that help families build home libraries
Resources that empower parents to become their child’s first and most important teacher

Frequently asked questions
Your tax deduction happens when you contribute to your DAF, not when you recommend a grant — so a grant to Literacy Partners doesn’t generate an additional deduction, but it does put funds you’ve already set aside to work supporting families.
Yes. Many DAF sponsors let you set up recurring grants to the same nonprofit, so you can support Literacy Partners’ work automatically throughout the year.
Gifts for designated programs restrict where we are able to use these funds. We prefer to receive unrestricted funds so we can allocate them where we need it most. However, if you feel strongly about designating your grant to a specific program, please email us at development@literacypartners.org.
