Building Home Libraries
We distribute tens of thousands of books every year to families across the country.
We provide every student across all our programs with a home library of age- and language-appropriate books for their children.
Coaching and support for parents help them make family reading a daily habit.
The Impact of Home Libraries
- Access to home libraries is unequivocally linked to student achievement and to lifelong success.
- The likelihood of a child being on track in literacy and numeracy almost doubles if at least one book is available in a student’s home.
- When students have access to a larger number of books in their homes, their reading motivation is higher, their attitude toward reading is more positive, and their reading competence increases.
