Cy Pres Awards are unclaimed or leftover funds from class action lawsuits or other court cases that are given to certain nonprofit organizations, especially when it promotes justice or furthers the purposes of the underlying class action.
Cy pres means “as close as possible” in French, meaning the funds are to be used as closely as possible to the original intent.
