Give the Gift of Literacy

Let’s back parents to be their children’s first and best teacher

Giving Tuesday is recognized worldwide as a day of generosity and we want to thank you in advance for being part of our community. We are a group of people committed to families. We know that promoting literacy is one of the best ways to advance racial equity and social justice. Literacy Partners relies on the generous financial support of people just like you to provide free classes to low-income African American and immigrant parents of young children.

Through our 2-generation approach to education, parents build the literacy and language skills they need for success in today's world while learning to better promote their children’s early learning, social emotional growth, and school readiness.

Your gift today will help us meet the extraordinary ongoing challenges of Covid-19 and bring these essential services to more deserving families.

Meet Angie

Mother of two children, a graduate of our high school to college transition program, and a star performer in our recent celebrity poetry reading event.

Despite the hardships of being a single mother, Angie never gave up on her dream of finishing high school and going to college. She never gave up on being the best version of herself and the best mother she could be. Angie thrived in her Literacy Partners classes and found in poetry a way to express what she was going through and to send a message about the true nature of motherhood for the world to hear.

Check out her performance in the video below.

Will you lend your support today to young parents like Angie who are pursuing their dream of a college education, while working hard to provide a brighter future for her children?
