Barbara Taylor Bradford OBE Memorial Fund

“Over the years, this magnificent organization has done an extraordinary job teaching adults to read. Thank you for helping people to own the power of the written word.”

– Barbara Taylor Bradford OBE

Barbara Taylor Bradford OBE & Literacy Partners

An accomplished journalist and critically acclaimed writer of dozens of novels, Barbara was first introduced to Literacy Partners in 1990 by her dear friend and literacy advocate, Liz Smith. Barbara became a steadfast champion of the cause, participating in many campaigns over the years, raising awareness of the “silent epidemic” of illiteracy, and bringing her network of friends and supporters to the organization.

She served on the Literacy Partners board of directors for six years. Literacy Partners honored Barbara and her husband Robert at the 2010 Gala Evening of Readings and presented her with the Lizzie Award for her lifetime achievement in 2015.

The Barbara Taylor Bradford OBE Memorial Fund at Literacy Partners

In honor of our former board member and great friend, and in keeping with her wishes, Literacy Partners has established a fund to continue Barbara’s extraordinary legacy of leadership in education.

With your generous contributions, we will enroll a new generation of parents into family literacy classes so they can claim the power of the written word for themselves and their young children.
