Literacy Partners has been awarded the David M. Rubenstein Prize, the highest national honor for literacy in the United States, by the Library of Congress. This award is a powerful affirmation of the impact our community and programs make every day.
The David M. Rubenstein Prize recognizes an outstanding and measurable contribution to increasing literacy levels, and it reflects something we’ve long known to be true: when we invest in parents and caregivers, we invest in their children, too.
Literacy Partners takes a two-generation approach to literacy, supporting adults, parents, and caregivers across the country as they build the skills they and their children need to thrive. In 2024 alone, we reached 3,792 parents and 7,200 children. Almost half of our students earned their high school equivalency, and a third went on to enroll in college.
None of that happens without the people who show up for our students: our board and volunteers, our dedicated staff, and above all, our students themselves, whose determination inspires us every single day. And none of it happens without you. Your generosity uplifts our students and their families, and it made this extraordinary recognition possible!
This award is more than a prize. It’s fuel for us to continue forging ahead with our mission to advance literacy two generations at a time.
