Literacy Partners Bike for Books Team Takes NYC

Literacy Partners was excited to return as a charity partner for the 2018 TD Five Boro Bike Tour for the second year in a row. On Sunday, May 6, our team took over the streets of New York City to bike for books, riding in support of literacy and the power of reading. Our team, made up of nine members, rode along the FDR, the BQE, and through Central Park, before making their way over the Verrazano Bridge to the Finish Festival in Staten Island. At the end of the route, our riders celebrated not only biking 40 miles, but also raising over $9,000 to support Literacy Partners – an impressive feat!

Funds raised will go toward providing free literacy and language classes to low-income and immigrant parents in New York City, as well as a home library of children’s books for each of our students’ children.

We at Literacy Partners thank our dedicated team for their hard work biking across New York City, as well as raising funds and awareness of our work. Our riders are already looking forward to joining us again next year! If you missed the chance to #BikeForBooks in 2018 and would like to be considered for our 2019 team, please contact Gohar at goharc@literacypartners.org.
